“This is a compare and contrast essay on how Henry Knox from the book ‘Guns for George Washington’ and Matthias from the book ‘Among the enemy’ are alike and different.”
Have you ever compared two things together to see what was alike and what was different? In the two books “Guns for General Washington” and “Among the Enemy”, they both have similar characters; Henry Knox from “Guns for General Washington” and Matthias from “Among the Enemy”. Both characters have some differences and similarities, some harder to spot than others. They are both great leaders and have a great amount of bravery, and they both are static characters. I think that it is very important to know the similarities and differences between two characters.
First off Henry and Matthias both show a great amount of leadership skills and a huge amount of bravery. Henry Knox is the one who came up with the idea to even go on the journey to Boston for General Washington, people doubted Henry, his younger brother, and their men. General Washington’s Commanders thought it was a stupid idea and that they were walking into a deathtrap, either they would starve to death, freeze to death, get killed from wild animals, or killed by the British; They also said “You’ll never make it”, but Henry was brave enough and he knew he had the leadership skills to do it, which they made it successful to Boston and they won the battle. Now on to Matthias, his friends and him were in their school which it was where they were staying to hide from the Population Police, which they found them anyways and put them onto buses to their concentration camps. Then on the way their he stuck a nail into the tire of the bus which made the bus to flip, and then his friends and him made it out. Farther into the story Matthias sneaks into the Population Camp and fakes as a Solider and becomes really close with the head of the Population Police, then in the end he destroys the Population Police in the end and brings peace to the world. That just proves that they both have a huge amount of bravery and leadership.
Second of all Matthias and Henry are both static characters, which means they don’t change at all through the story they stay completely the same in the story from beginning to end. Henry takes his men on the journey, he gains some intelligence from going on the trip and he learned some new tactics from fighting the British and coming up with the idea. Matthias doesn’t change ether, he just gains some major lying skills from lying to the Head of the Population Police and the soldiers in the camp also, he also learns how to care for his friend’s way more, once he found out they are still alive and he saved them.
However they do have differences, which are that they have to face different enemies, and they have to face different obstacles. Henry has to face the British and the long cold journey with barley no food. Now Mathias has to face mostly just the population police and possibly facing the death of his friends. That’s really the only thing those two don’t have in common mainly. They both have to go on long dangerous tasks, have to face some sort of enemy, they both never change in the story, and they are doing it to try and save or protect someone or something. That was the main and really only true difference that those two characters had.
In the end they have similarities and differences, both two different characters from two way different time periods, but they still have some similarities. It’s shocking how two people can have similarities, from different time periods, and different places in the world.
I would grade my essay between a 7-8 its not an advanced piece of writing.
